Margaret Stoudnour

About the Teacher:

My name is Maggie Stoudnour, or “Ms. Maggie” to my students. I am currently in my second year at TES, teaching 2nd grade. Prior to my recent transition to classroom teaching, I spent two decades in the field of outdoor and nature education. I worked first as a naturalist at a variety of outdoor centers, eventually becoming the Education Director for a coastal conservation non-profit in northern California. After starting a family, I moved to Vermont, where I worked for a time coordinating educational programs for the Upper Valley Land Trust, and then as the Elementary Outdoor Program Coordinator at the neighboring Rivendell school district. I received my teaching degree from the Upper Valley Educators Institute and am delighted to find myself teaching here at TES! I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons, hiking, gardening, baking and writing. I am passionate about place-based nature education, and I love to facilitate experiences for kids that inspire a sense of wonder about the world around them. I value TES’ goal of meeting each child where they are, and supporting them not just as students but as whole people. And of course, I love that TES encourages outdoor learning and has forest classrooms!
