About the Teacher:

Alexandra Mathis first joined the TES community in 2019 after five years at the Plainfield School in Meriden, New Hampshire. She has been teaching visual art since 2003, and has experience with a variety of materials and processes, including painting, printmaking, ceramics, darkroom photography, and digital media. Ms. Mathis has taught in a range of settings, including colleges, public and private high schools, elementary and middle schools, summer camps, and after-school programs. She has also directed gallery exhibitions and shown her artwork nationally.

Ms. M. is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a B.F.A. in Fine Art, and Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned an M.F.A. in Painting. In addition, she completed a post-baccalaureate program in Studio Art at Brandeis University, and obtained teaching certification in Reflective Critical Practice from Brown University.

In addition to making art and teaching at TES, Ms. M. also loves animals, plants, and spending time in nature. When she isn’t at school or working on something in the studio, she can be found tending to the horses at her farm, giving riding lessons, exploring the local trails, or testing out a new plant-based recipe.
