About the Teacher:

Mary joined TES as the Librarian and Technology Teacher in 2004. She and her husband moved from San Francisco to be closer to their east coast families. She left San Francisco having taught in the Mission District at bilingual English/Spanish elementary schools for fifteen years.

Mary enjoys seeing children at all stages of reading development, from pre-readers/emergent readers to independent/proficient readers. She continually works with teachers, students, and community members to build a school library collection filled with books and resources of interest to all students and staff. She encourages students to broaden their reading interests, so they may form positive identities and obtain a clearer understanding of the world around them. Mary loves introducing students to new technologies and infuses her library classes with technology lessons and tips.

Mary is a graduate of Villanova University (BS) in Business Administration, San Francisco State University (MA Ed) Instructional Technologies. In 2006, she completed her School Library Media Specialist endorsement at the University of Vermont.

Mary and her husband enjoy reading, sailing, snowboarding, hiking, and gardening.
